ZARASTRO’S SOUTHERN MISSION

One who might have made our ‘Cash Money’ segment in the past is hoping to live up to his million-dollar pricetag with a southern mission this weekend, with Tony Gollan sending Zarastro down the Flemington straight

Initially purchased by Coolmore for a cool $1m, he was purchased by his new owners for $32,500 and has won 6 from 13 starts, paying for himself 6 times since joining the Gollan Yard.

Having just hit top-form when adding a Group 3 Healy Stakes to his resume, the team agreed it would be pointless to spell him, rather opting to head down to Victoria to contest the Group 3 Auries Star.

“With a nice fit and healthy horse that is just hitting top form, I thought it was pointless to put him away, it was worth the trip,” Gollan said.

”He is a big, strong, bold galloper, so I don’t think straight racing will be a problem for him, but you never know until you put them down it.”.
