We’re sticking around for Part II of Racing Western Australia’s The Pinnacles, headlined this weekend with the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes.
As always Racing X host Luke Dittman is here for his Contender vs. Pretender, and is once again sticking with the Eastern Raiders headed on a bi-coastal mission!
CONTENDER VS. PRETENDER – GR.1 WINTERBOTTOM STAKES, ASCOT
Contender – Overpass: He’s a former winner of this race. He’s shown us he’s still got it and he seems to love racing in WA. I think Josh pings him across from the wide alley and he leads pillar to post.
Pretender – Western Empire: He’ll obviously improve from the first up run, but he was beaten by Rope Them In who is in this race too. I know Western Empire was tight for room in the straight but even when clear he never made ground. Not only do I think he can’t win this, I think Rope Them In will beat them over the line again.
Smokey: Lady Laguna
CONTENDER VS. PRETENDER – GR.2 ZIPPING CLASSIC, CAULFIELD
Contender – Kingswood: Won his first two this prep, I think he’ll love the extra dustance and he drew the perfect alley to put himself in striking distance right behind the speed.
Pretender – Naval College: Battled on in a fast run race last start but still couldn’t get there. Has a road trip south which is always a worry and has the pace from a sticky alley to find himself in a tricky spot.
